I don’t know about you but I’m sick of all the excuses filling the airwaves these days. Personal responsibility has become an endangered species.
It’s always someone else’s fault. As soon as news breaks the finger-pointing begins. And it’s off we go on a 24/7 tangent of who’s a lie, is it?
Just Tell the Truth For Once In Your Life
Wouldn’t it be nice to hear the truth just once? “OK I used my personal server to avoid A, B, and C,” or “Yes, I started a bogus university.”
If someone actually told the truth without threat of perjury, I’d fall off my chair. Instead of citing the Fifth Amendment why not just yell, “Olly, Olly Oxen FREE!”
If we’re going to act like children, we might as well use children’s game rules.
Winners Win and Losers Lose
Winning candidates never have any excuses about why they won. It was all me.
But for losers, everyone from the envelope licker to the campaign manager is thrown under the bus never to be heard from again.
If you’re born poor, you’ll stay poor. If you’re born rich, you’ll stay rich. Says who?
There’s no logic whatsoever in those two statements.
Biographies are packed with accounts of people who would not accept those kinds of flimsy excuses.
But the dog ate my homework crowd are more than happy to listen and comfort those they label unfortunate.
After all it’s not their fault.
Quick someone set up a safe zone, bring puppies and cookies and coloring books. Hurry we might still be able to save this one.
What they should be doing is coaching and being supportive for that person to make some positive life altering changes in their lives.
But it’s much easier to make excuses and throw money at a problem than to make hard choices.
Make them comfortable — just not too comfortable. Just comfortable enough to be dependent.
Addicted to entitlements. One more ward of the state. A culture of losers. Welcome to America.
Failure In Not an Option
I speak from personal experience when I tell you that failure is a great teacher. Failure won’t accept your excuses and suddenly make things better for you.
I’ve been well off and totally broke with no job no money and no prospects.
The more excuses you make the better failure enjoys it. Because those same excuses will find their way into the hearts and minds of others.
And they will lean on those comforting, soft, excuses that absolve them of any blame for their circumstances and take others down with them.
Alcoholics don’t hang around with sober people. Governmentholics are no different.
Stand back I’m going to vote for a bill I didn’t bother to read. But I’m sure it will be popular.
Some Final Thoughts
I can be poor if someone else is to blame. But if I’m to blame for my situation that’s a whole other issue that I can’t handle.
Where’s my help? Where’s the rich guy I’m supposed to point to and say, “Look he has more than me that’s unfair.”
It’s unfair to ask me to live on $11 and hour when $15 would make things so much better. Eleven is not fair.
No, I won’t work any harder for the extra $4 or save it — I get it because I deserve it.
The collective you owe it to me for shutting me out of the good life.
I have the best excuse in the world — “It’s not my fault.”
Well, guess what? — It’s not mine either. So don’t expect me to pay your bill.
