Last year in April all ticket booking websites went down for a few moments because the mega-blockbuster of all times was about to be released. Yes, I am talking about Avengers: Endgame.
A journey that started with a teenage me watching Iron Man in 2008 to an adult me watching Endgame in 2019. It was so magical. The story, cinematography, animations, action sequences, but most of all, the characters.
This journey was on an emotional peak especially in the end with Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame, and this article by Feeding Trends is dedicated to all the marvel characters that were brought to life by the avengers infinity war cast and the avengers endgame cast.
“I can do this all day” “I went for the head” “I am Inevitable” & “I am Iron Man” are some of the most iconic quotes that were said by our favourite characters in the Marvel Universe and are enough to spark a true Marvel Fan. All this because the actors were able to deliver a fabulous performance till the very end. Here are few of them with the avengers characters that they portrayed.
Let’s begin with the original six, the first Avengers team.
1. Tony Stark (Iron Man) - Robert Downey Jr
To grow from a “Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist” person to the saviour of the world Iron Man has mesmerised everyone with his brains and wittiness and super cool tech and armour and whatnot. Perfectly portrayed by Robert Downey Jr a two time Academy Award winner and brilliant actor.
2. Steve Rogers (Captain America) - Chris Evans
The First Avenger Captain America is quite literally a Captain by all means. He has the soldier spirit of never backing out and has led the Avengers in several battles and won. Chris Evans has done justice to this character with his awesome portrayal of Cap.
3. Thor - Chris Hemsworth
The God of Thunder, Odin son, almost the Strongest Avenger and a kind-hearted King. The person who lost the most in this Marvel series and still had the guts to go against the super bad villain on his own. Chris Hemsworth with his Godly looks and bulging biceps has smoothly portrayed Thor.
4. Bruce Banner (Hulk) - Edward Norton, Lou Ferrigno, Mark Ruffalo
A green raging monster who in the very end changed into Professor Hulk with the brains and the brawl together. Hulk has been portrayed by multiple people in the previous series starting with Lou Ferrigno at the beginning followed by Edward Norton in The Incredible Hulk and currently Mark Ruffalo in the Avengers series.
5. Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) - Scarlett Johansson
Black Widow who is raised to be the perfect spy by KGB and is later used as an operative by SHIELD gets into the Avengers and turns to see a family in them. Portrayed by Scarlett Johansson who fits perfectly into this role.
6. Clint Barton (Hawkeye) - Jeremy Renner
A shield operative from the beginning and the sharpest of archers takes on a world of aliens with his tech-savvy bow and arrow. Portrayed by Jeremy Renner. Inside fact that Jeremy played the hawkeye character even when he had both his hands fractured. That's some dedication.
And now the rest of the avengers infinity war cast and avengers endgame cast.
7. J.A.R.V.I.S.- Paul Bettany
The AI created by Iron Man to run everything from his house to his armours. Named after a trustworthy family driver Jarvis turns out to be a masterpiece of technology. Voiced by Paul Bettany and his soothing British accent.
8. Nick Fury - Samuel L. Jackson
The Boss Man who is responsible for creating the Avengers. His views and ideologies are what brought the team together and he is the master of spies. Beautifully portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson
9. Maria Hill - Cobie Smulders
Nick Fury’s left-hand special agent Maria Hill is one the few that have always stayed loyal to the Avengers and have fought for the right thing. Portrayed gloriously by Cobie Smulders.
10. Thanos - Damion Poitier, Josh Brolin
The Big Bad Villain in the MCU who brought the Avengers to their knees, all for his ideologies which to be quite frank were not that insane. Damion Poitier played a small cameo in The Avengers as Thanos, but the major performance was presented by Josh Brolin who did live up to the role of The Mad Titan.
11. Loki - Tom Hiddleston
The most favourite villain turned hero in the MCU was the God of Mischief, Thor’s brother, Loki. Started as the person due to whom the Avengers came together and ended (or maybe not, who knows) as the person who willfully fought for his citizens. Mischievously portrayed by Tom Hiddleston.
12. James "Rhodey" Rhodes War Machine / Iron Patriot - Terrence Howard, Don Cheadle
Tony Stark’s friend and a colonel in the US Army Rhodes is authorised to use an Iron Man armour War Machine later named as Iron Patriot. Portrayed first by Terrence Howard and later Don Cheadle.
13. Pepper Potts - Gwyneth Paltrow
Tony Stark's secretary turned CEO of Stark Industries. Although she is not one of the Avengers characters yet she is Tony’s life partner and has stood by him in all his thick and thin. Gorgeously portrayed by Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow.
14. James "Bucky" Barnes (Winter Soldier) - Sebastian Stan
Captain America's best friend who was thought to have died during a mission but was actually changed into a killing machine and was renowned as the Winter Soldier joins the Avengers after help from the Captain. Strongly portrayed by Sebastian Stan.
15. Vision - Paul Bettany
The brainchild of Tony Stark, Jarvis and who is powered by the mind stone and supposedly worthy to lift Mjolnir. He turns out to be a formidable ally and also starts to behave like a normal human. Again portrayed by Paul Bettany.
16. Sam Wilson (Falcon) - Anthony Mackie
Sam Wilson was a US Army pararescue airman who comes to the aid of the captain and black widow at the time when Shield was infiltrated with Hydra. He turns out to be a great ally of The Avengers. Played by Anthony Mackie
17. Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) - Elizabeth Olsen
Having the power of telekinesis and telepathy Wanda Maximoff is yet to become one of the most powerful Superheroes. Started as a reluctant villain she now is a member of the Avengers. She is yet to unlock her full potential. Gorgeously portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen.
18. Peter Quill (Star-Lord) - Chris Pratt
Half human half eternal Peter Quill also called star Lord is the leader of the Guardians Of The Galaxy. he forfeits his powers for a greater purpose and is still a very comical character. Funnily played by Chris Pratt.
19. Gamora - Zoe Saldana
The most feared woman in the galaxy. Gamora is the daughter of Thanos and has a change of heart when she sees what her father is willing to do to achieve his utopia. Beautifully portrayed by Zoe Saldana.
20. Groot - Vin Diesel
I am Groot is all the dialogues that this Marvel character has. Groot has had the most impactful journey in the Guardians Of The Galaxy series. From a grown-up tree to a sapling to a teenage Croods character is a lovable one. Fun fact Vin Diesel used to receive a different copy e of groups dialogues so as to bring the emotion in it.
21. Rocket (Racoon) - Bradley Cooper
Groot’s best friend, genius, destructive and cunning, Rocket is another prominent member of the Guardians Of The Galaxy. Great voice over done by Bradley Cooper.
22. Drax the Destroyer - Dave Bautista
Drax is a man with a purpose to take revenge on Thanos and he is willing to give his life away for that. All he wants is to kill Thanos. In having a purpose like that he forgets the power difference and is portrayed comically in the MCU by Dave Bautista.
23. Nebula - Karen Gillan
Thanos’s daughter and Gamora’s sister, who Thanos made from parts is also trained to be a killing machine. She only had one purpose to make Thanos proud of her, but upon realising that for Thanos she is just a machine she has a change of heart and is vengeful against her father. Karen Gillan willfully shaved her head to play this character.
24. Peter Parker (Spider-Man) - Tom Holland
The newest addition to The Avengers is our very own Peter Parker, who is a high school kid with all the spidey powers. He is recruited by none other than Iron Man himself to be his legacy. Very beautifully portrayed by Tom Holland.
25. Stephen Strange (Doctor Strange) - Benedict Cumberbatch
Dr. Stephen Strange is a world renowned neurosurgeon and is almost too proud to be in that position until fate makes him the guardian of reality or The Sorcerer Supreme. Now he has only one purpose and that is to protect the world from dangers far and beyond. This role has been immersively played by Benedict Cumberbatch.
26. Scott Lang (Ant-Man) - Paul Rudd
Scott Lang an ex-con and a very good one at that fatefully takes on the mantle of Ant Man from Hank Pym. He further is the one avengers character who uncovers secrets of the Quantum Realm and plays a major role in undoing Thanos. This Marvel character is a great portrayal by Paul Rudd.
27. Hope van Dyne (Wasp) - Evangeline Lilly
The Wasp in Ant Man and The Wasp is the counterpart of Ant Man. She is equally strong and even better that Ant Man at a lot of things. Admirably portrayal by Evangeline Lilly
28. Hank Pym - Michael Douglas
The original Ant-Man and the brains behind it all Dr. Hank Pym was the creator of Pym Particle, due to which a lot of things were possible and I mean a lot.
29. Valkyrie - Tessa Thompson
Member of the brave valiant warriors Valkyrie of Asgard were all demolished by Heal The Goddess of Death. The only remaining survivor comes to the aid of Thor as he takes revenge on Heal for destroying her Kingdom. This Played by Tessa Thompson.
30. Odin - Anthony Hopkins
The allfather Odin is a well renowned and well-feared name across galaxies as he is the supreme leader of all the realms. He has been worshipped as the God of Wisdom. A very wise king and a great father to Thor and Loki. Played as a God by Anthony Hopkins
31. Taneleer Tivan (Collector) - Benicio del Toro
Perhaps the most underrated marvel character was of Tivan the Collector. He is known to be a very shrewd collector and is the head of the biggest collection in the entire Universe. Portrayed by Benicio del Toro.
32. Captain Marvel - Brie Larson
Captain Marvel is supposed to be the most powerful Avenger till date. Her DNA was muted by an alien and from there onwards her journey from being a pilot to becoming the most powerful Avenger began.
33. Black Panther - Chadwick Boseman
Last but not the least a special mention to a perfect portrayal of King T’Challa or The Black Panther by Late Actor Chadwick Boseman. He took everyone by surprise with his debut in the MCU. All we can say is that there couldn’t have been a better King. WAKANDA FOREVER.
