The Commonwealth Games is a quadrennial International multi-sport event among athletes. The sports event started back in the year 1930 and has been loved since then. The event also includes athletes with disabilities as a full member in the para-category. The sports event was inspired by the Inter-Empire Championship. The Games are held overseas and in the same country.
1. P.V. Sindhu- Badminton
The Indian Badminton player Pusarla Venkata Sindhu lovingly known as P.V. Sindhu, won a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Badminton Women’s Single category. She got presented with the Padma Bhushan award.
2. Lakshya Sen- Badminton
The former world junior number1 Indian Badminton player clinched gold for India in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in the Badminton Men Singles category. He has previously won a silver medal for the country in the youth Olympics.
3. Vinesh Phogat – Wrestling
The former commonwealth gold medal winner has successfully clinched the gold medal for India again in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Wrestling Women Freestyle- 53 kg category. She got awarded Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna in 2020.
4. Nikhat Zareen- Boxing
The Indian female boxer Nikhat Zareen won a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Boxing Women’s Light Flyweight category. She bagged the title of "best boxer" in the All-India Inter-University Boxing Championship in 2015.
5. Ravi Kumar Dahiya- Wrestling
The Indian freestyle wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya won a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Wrestling Men Freestyle- 57 kg category. He got awarded with Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award in 2021.
6. Naveen Malik- Wrestling
The Indian freestyle wrestler Naveen Malik won a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Wrestling Men Freestyle- 74 kg category. He had previously won a bronze medal for the country in Asian Championships in 2022.
7. Sharath Kamal – Table Tennis
The Indian table tennis player Sharath Kamal won a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games in the Table Tennis Men Single category. He got awarded with Padma Shri in the year 2019.
8. Nitu Ghanghas- Boxer
The female boxer of India, Nitu Ghanghas, has bagged a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Boxing- Minimumweight category.
She had previously won gold in Youth World Championship in 2018.
9. Amit Panghal- Boxer
The Indian boxer Amit Panghal has made India proud by winning a gold medal for the country in Commonwealth Games in 2022 in the Boxing Light Flyweight category. He recently won a silver medal in Asian Championship in 2021.
10. Bajrang Punia- Wrestling
The Indian Wrestler Bajrang Punia won a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Wrestling Men Freestyle- 65 kg category. He had previously won a bronze medal for the country in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
11. Sakshi Malik- Wrestling
The Indian female wrestler Sakshi Malik won a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games in 2022 in Wrestling Women’s Freestyle- 62 Kg category. She has previously won a bronze medal for the country in Rio de Janerio in 2016. She got awarded with Padma Shri in 2017.
12. Deepak Punia- Wrestling
The Indian wrestler Deepak Punia won a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games in 2022 in Wrestling Men’s Freestyle- 86 kg. He is Junior Commissioned Officer in Indian Army and had previously won many medals for the country in different games.
13. Mirabai Chanu- Weightlifting
Saikhom Mirabai Chanu lovingly known as Mirabai Chanu won a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Weightlifting Women- 49 kg. She recently won a silver medal for the country in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
14. Jeremy Lalrinnunga- Weightlifting
The Indian weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga won a gold medal for the country in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Weightlifting Men- 67 kg. He had previously won a gold medal in Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.
15. Achinta Sheuli- Weightlifting
The Indian weightlifter Achinta Sheuli won a gold medal for the country in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Weightlifting Men’s – 73 kg. He recently won a silver medal for the country in Junior World Weightlifting Championships in 2021.
16. Lawn Bowls – A team of women
The Indian team of lawn balls consisting of four women Lovely Choubey, Pinki Singh, Nayanmoni Saikia, and Rupa Rani Tirkey bagged a gold medal for the country in Commonwealth Games in 2022 in Lawn Bowls Women’s Four categories. This is India’s first win in this sport.
17. Bhavina Patel- Table Tennis
The Indian Para athlete Bhavina Patel won a gold medal for the country in Commonwealth Games 2022 in the Table Tennis Women’s Single 3-5 category. She recently won a silver medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020 for the country.
18. Eldhose Paul- Triple Jump
The Indian triple jump athlete Eldhose Paul won a gold medal for the country in Commonwealth Games in 2022 in Men’s Triple Jump category. He holds a personal best record of 16.99 m.
19. Sharath Kamal, Sreeja Akula- Table Tennis
The team of Indian Tennis Players Sharath Kamal and Sreeja Akula won a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games in 2022 in the Table Tennis Mixed Team category. Both athletes have won a fair number of competitions previously.
20. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty- Badminton
The team of Indian Badminton Players won a gold medal for India in Commonwealth Games in 2022 in Badminton Men’s Double category. The pair is the first men’s doubles pair from India to be ranked in the top 10 of the BWF World Ranking.
21. Sanil Shetty and team - Table Tennis Player
The Indian team of four table tennis players consisting of Sharath Kamal, Sathiyan Ganasekaran, Harmeet Desai, and Sanil Shetty won a gold medal for the country in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in the Table Tennis Men category.
22. Sudhir- Powerlifter
The Indian Para Powerlifter Sudhir won a gold medal for the country in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Powerlifting Men’s Heavy Weight. He successfully lifted 212 kg in his lift.
