How to make dough bait to catch carp.

There are thousands of recipes that anglers use to catch carp. Pretty much any sweet flavored product will catch carp. Some of the more common ingredients include cereal, jello, molasses and sodas. This is one of my recipes that consistently catch carp, buffalo and occasionally catfish.

This is a simple recipe. You only need flour and any regular soda. I have never tried sugar free/diet soda, but my guess is that it would not work as well. Feel free to try and and let me know.

Get a bowl, any size will do depending on the amount you want to make. I never measure it out, I go by feel, but I think you need about 3 parts flour to 1 part soda. Put some flour in the bowl, then pour soda in. You will want to only put a little soda and mix. I have used Sunkist Orange, Dr. Pepper, Pepsi, Coke, Big Red and more. They have all caught fish but Pepsi and Big Red seem to work slightly better. After adding the soda, mix the soda and flour with your hands. Once thoroughly mixed, if the bait is too dry, and a slight more amount of the soda. If the bait is too thin, add more flour. You want a consistency similar to chewing gum. It needs to be damp but stick together. Once it feel about like chewing gum, I always add a bit more flour. Every time I go fishing, the bait is soggier than when I left. So adding a slight bit more flour seems to make it balance out once I get to my fishing hole.

Below are some of the fish I have caught using this recipe.
