Step 1

We will draw this beautiful fish in a profile view as we go through this guide on drawing a betta fish. Start by drawing the head facing left; as you can see in the reference image, it will be tilted to create the puckered mouth in the middle of the face.

Next, we will extend a curved line backward from the top of the head to the back of the betta fish. The next aspect of the drawing will be the side fin, and you can also draw the rounded gill nearby.

Step 2 - Now draw some more details and add fins.

The first thing we will draw will be the eye of the fish. Draw a small black dot, then add round line details around it. Next, we will draw large fins that hang down near the head. These fins will have rounded outlines and line detailing to make them more crinkly.

Draw a few small lines along the body to give texture to the skin, and finally, you can start drawing the large fin near the back of the fish. A gap will be left on this page, as another pane will overlap later.

Step 3 - Next, draw the rear fin of the Betta fish

This fin will go on the back of the fish, which will be the fin that overlaps the one you drew in the previous step. The outline of this rear fin will be quite uneven and irregular, and there will also be lines starting from where it connects to the body and extending inward from the tail. You will then be ready to draw the final fin in the next step, so let's continue!
