Galiakot Dargah Rajasthan – History of Galiakot Dargah

Galiakot Dargah is a small town in Sagbada Tehsil in Dungarpur District of Rajasthan. Which is situated on the banks of Mahi river. Which was settled in the form of a small village by the Bhils in the 12th century. At that time this village was surrounded by boundary wall from all sides. The dilapidated part of which is still evidence that once it must have been a big fort. Today it has become like a nice town. About 6 kilometers to the north of this town is the tomb of a fakir Syed Fakhruddin. Which is a very religious place of Bohra Muslims of Shia sect. The body of Pir Fakhruddin was buried at this place. Later on the tomb of Pir Fakhruddin was made a tomb by the people of the community of his followers, it was given the form of a dargah, which later became famous as Galiakot Dargah. It is also known as Mazar-e-Fakhri. And even today, a large number of his followers come to live here. And once in a year Urs is organized at the Dargah of Pir Fakhruddin. Which is famous as Urs of Galiakot. At this time a big fair is held here. And thousands of devotees reach here from every corner of India and also from abroad.

Ancient History of Galiakot Dargah – Galiyakot Dargah history in hindi

Construction of Galiakot Dargah Saints, devotees and their admirers got a lot of construction done from time to time. The very beautiful dome of the dargah is made of marble about 52 feet high and 21 feet wide. The tomb is made of white Makrana stone. On whose walls there is a lovely work of pichkari. The inner part of the dome is also decorated with attractive colors and bellboots.

 Apart from the dome, there are four minarets. The dargah looks exactly like the Taj Mahal when viewed from outside. There are four doors around the tomb. And the dome has a gold urn on it. Above him is the moon star in which there is light. which can be seen from a distance. Makrana stone is installed in front of the dargah. And there is an iron mesh all around. There is a big tall tower adjacent to it. Inside which there are stairs. The verses of the Quran are written in golden letters on the top of the tomb. There are big important rooms all around in the front hallway. It also has accommodation facilities for the passengers. There are two main doors to go inside. As soon as you enter the door. On the right is the Noor Masjid. In which there is a good system of performing Wudu. Which is found in almost all mosques. Apart from this, there is a good arrangement in the mosque for women to offer Namaz. There is a huge hall on the other side of the mosque. In which the passengers have to stay there till other arrangements are made. It is also called rest house or traveler food. Langar is also provided to the passengers here. Which is managed by a management committee. Travelers have to write their names in the Diwankhana as soon as they go here. A part of the rest house is always stayed for the Alim Sahibs, who are the religious leaders of the Bohras. Which can also be tightened by VIP guesthouse. There are many graves outside the mazaar in front. On one side is the tomb of Dawood Bhai Saheb who was the son of Pir Fakhruddin Sahab.

Pir Fakhruddin sahib the name of the father of Galiakot was Tarmal. He was the vizier of Raja Siddharaj Jai Singh (who ruled Gujarat from 1094 to 1134 AD). At that time, to increase the Shia sect, Imam Mustain Seir from Egypt sent Molai Ahmed Saheb and Molai Yakub Sahib to Yemen, they increased their religion there. He then sent Molai Ahmed, Molai Abdullah and Molai Noor Mohammed from Yemen to Khambhat from AD 450 onwards. There the fame of Abdullah sahib spread a lot. He filled the dry well with water with his magic. The stone elephants were dropped as soon as they touched them. On seeing this miracle, people started adopting their religion. Then these people came from Khambhat to Patan. Patan was the capital of Gujarat. When the king of Gujarat saw the matter of conversion, he ordered the arrest of Molai Abdullah. Molai Abdullah prayed to God and a wall of fire formed around him. The king was surprised to see this miracle and prayed to take his discipleship and then the entire royal family became his disciple.

Along with the royal family, both his vizier Tarmal and his brother Bharmal also joined the sect of Imam-al-Mustan-Seer. Bharmal's sons were Yakubs. Who was given the task of preaching religion in Gujarat, and Tarmal's son was Syed Fakhruddin. Those who were sent to the province of Bagad (Rajputana). From the time Fakhruddin was young, he started showing signs like a great Sufi saint. He used to meditate in solitude, staying away from sports. His daily work was to serve the poor, feed the hungry, give medicine to the patients. Later he was given complete training in religion. The deen and the spiritual became mystics after they had attained knowledge. His nature was religious and sanyasi. He tell many miracles to people with soul searching. For this reason, the tomb of this saint later became the ultimate pilgrimage of Dawoodi Boharo by the name of Galiakot.

It is said that when this Pir of Galiakot was coming to Sagwara with his followers. So at that time thieves attacked. Fighting with thieves, all his companions were killed, only this was left. Then it was time to offer Namaz. When they were offering Namaz, thieves attacked them from behind. From that day onwards this great soul left this world. He was 27 years old at the time of his death. At that time no one came to know about his death. It is said that a bullock cart driver was passing by. where his body was buried. There one wheel of the bullock cart remained, and the bullock cart reached its destination with one wheel. When the car driver saw how the car came from one wheel, he was very surprised. He went back and found the wheel lying at one place. He tried hard to lift it but that wheel could not lift. Later he saw Pir Fakhruddin in his dream and said that – I was going to Sagbada for the betterment of the people. The thieves have killed me and buried me at this place. Let my grave be made here. Then his tomb was built there and the wishes of the people started getting fulfilled and the fame of Pir Baba of Galiakot spread all around.

In this way the flow of religious community started coming here for soul search and fulfillment of their wishes. As soon as the wishes were fulfilled, the pilgrims again started going there to offer their vows, since then thousands of Dawoodi Bohra community started coming every year to Jiyarat, and started paying their homage to this Fakir Baba of Galiakot. Later it took the form of Urs. The Urs of Galiakot is celebrated on the 27th of Muharram. Which is the first month of the Islamic Mohammedan Hijri calendar. Dawoodi Bohra Mishri walks according to the calendar. Within this calendar, the first month is of 30 days, the second month is of 29 days, and so on for 30 and 29 days. Sunni Muslims follow the Hijri calendar.

The preparations for celebrating Urs at the Galiakot Dargah start from the 20th of Muharram. The tomb is cleaned on the morning of 20th of Muharram. The tomb is washed with sandalwood by the mazavaros. Those who make vows take that water home. And he understands his fate. There is a belief and belief that by drinking this water, physical, divine and material sufferings are removed. Afterwards, first of all, white chadar is offered by the Majawar Sahibans. After that the sheets are offered according to their faith and status. Rich people also offer Zari sheets. Thousands of pilgrims gather here during Urs. Not only are Indians in Urs, but a large number of travelers from abroad also come here to live. There is a lot of decoration here during the time of Urs. There is light all around. The dome is covered with fragrant flowers. And the process of Ziyarat continues throughout the day. There is a special program of the night here. There is a huge crowd in the Majlis of Qawwalis. And it is thoroughly enjoyed by the passengers.

This Pir of Galiakot Dargah has so much influence that the wishes of the people are fulfilled not only by going there. Rather, if someone makes a vow even while sitting at home, then all his work gets completed. There is also a belief that if someone's child becomes ill, then Baba is requested that if my child is cured, then I will come to Ziyarat and come and offer prayers to you, and when his wish is fulfilled. So here children are weighed with salt, jaggery and sugar candy and dry fruits according to their faith. And it is offered there. Apart from this, coconut and laddoos are made around the tomb to pay homage to them. In another way, those whose wishes are fulfilled, they keep the pitcher of milk and curd there. Those milk and curd pitchers are drunk by those travelers whose wishes have not yet been fulfilled.
