You made a mistake.
Caught.
No way out.
If you admitted, it is costly.
Costly can take a variety of different forms. You can write a check to make it go away (after the business owner).
As an employee, often the cost is about a lack of trust that will happen when it is discovered and/or you admit it.
You just made a mistake.
Hopefully, you’re not in a profession where a mistake can kill someone.
It just feels the same way.
But it isn’t.
Take a deep breath and exhale slowly.
Do that a few times until you return to normal.
Handle it. Don’t let it eat you up from the inside.
It won’t go away.
At least not until you deal with it.
