Being an Indian girl with a huge family has a major drawback - each one is only focused on asking her to enter matrimony, to get married.

As soon as they cross 25 years of age, family gatherings start becoming a headache because the only ‘hot’ topic for everyone is her marriage. Everyone is stuck on just one question- “Ab to tumhari shaadi ki umar ho gyi hai. Toh kab kar rahi ho tum shaadi?”

As if they will bear all the expenses of our wedding. It’s not that we don’t want to get married. It is just that we are not that ready for having such a responsibility. We need to be mature enough to understand what marriage is and what it comes with. Being an Indian bride is not as easy as it seems.

For girls, the most important thing in wedding preparations is ‘to look like a bride’.

They can compromise on everything, except their bridal look. If their favorite Bollywood heroine has had a particular bridal look in any of her movies, it becomes tougher to lower down her expectations.

A stunning bride, like the one in their imagination, is hard to escape from reality. The younger generation, Kareena to Alia and Anushka, all inspire us to be a bride of our dreams. They provide varieties of ideas for a perfect bridal look.

Feeding Trends has brought for you inspiring bridal looks from Bollywood, which you can wear this wedding season:

1. Ananya from 2 States:

Alias’s simple South Indian look gives plenty of options to would be Indian bride. She carried a beautiful fusion look for her bridal wear. Alia Bhatt wore a red half saree, in a typical South Indian style, that gives Indian brides a fresh revamp.

You can play around with how heavy you want the look - either a heavy lehenga saree or a simple half saree – the choice is all yours. But if you chose to replicate Alia’s look, you will beat all typical Indian brides.

2. Jodha from Jodha Akbar:

Aishwarya’s look in Jodha Akbar was a full meal to all the brides-to-be. She is the perfect inspiration to work the traditional look. If you are going to replicate her look, you need to stick to the warm tones like saffron, emerald, golden brown, copper and burgundy or deep red.

Heavy Indian embroidery such as zardozi, which is the best kind of metallic embroidery for warm colour tones, can be paired up with net dupattas for the perfect bridal look. Nobody can stop you from being the queen that you already are!

3. Kashi Bai from Bajirao Mastani:

Priyanka looked the prettiest Marathi bride, Bollywood has ever had on its screen. It was an altogether different look with a simple Banarasi sari draped in a typical Marathi style.

The soul of the bridal look is the Maharashtrian jewelry. Only light weighted and simple sober neck pieces with simple earrings and the ‘nath’, complete the elegant look of the Indian bride. You’re all set to get a Marathi look.

4. Mastani from Bajirao Mastani:

Deepika Padukone as Mastani had left no stone unturned to captivate us with her looks. Playing a Muslim role, she reached the zenith of exquisiteness in the film. This look can turn every single girl on earth in to a star.

Why not pick it for your wedding? Pastel coloured lehengas, with appropriate jewellery steal the bridal look. Jewellery can be light weighted and can include two-tier earrings, pearl Nath, and jhoomars for added ecstasy.

5. Alizeh from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil:

For all the girls who dream of slaying with their makeup, all you need is to get Anushka’s look from Ae dil hai mushkil. She stole everyone’s heart with her charismatic smoky eye shadows and falling attires. Her ‘channa mereya’ bridal look is a dream of all girls.

To replicate this, a designer worked lehenga with flattering neck piece with matching earrings, round big traditional naths and the statement maang tika, is all you need. But you should make sure that eye make up is the main focus!

6. Jasmeet from Namastey London:

Katrina Kaif looked like the Greek Goddess in her Christian bridal avatar in Namastay London. If you can’t recollect it, just Google for the sequence she had to run from her wedding.

Her off shoulder white gown looked ethereal. Indian brides who want to have minimal jewellery paired with the same brimmed royalty, can take inspiration from Katrina’s look. A bit of modesty and cat walk will make the wedding glam sham!

7. Kalindi from Veere Di Wedding:

Kareena Kapoor has always been the fashion icon for most of us. Be it ‘Pooh’ or ‘Geet’, she always gave us new trends. In her last on-screen performance as ‘Kalu’ aka Kalindi, she listed the idea of being the ‘minimalist bride’.

She gave lehengas a new definition, by choosing yellow over any bright colour. Walking down the aisle with confidence in a comfortable outfit is something we so require!

8. Zaara from Veer Zaara:

14 years and still the bridal look of Preity Zinta is on everybody’s mind. Zaara’s outfit, the crimson red sharara with circular flounce hemline of the bottoms, and simple jewellery is still a major portion of many wedding dreams.

If you want to be totally different, you can pick this red sharara for the wedding. You can choose vibrant royal colours to add more hue to your wedding.

9. Maithili from Prem Ratan Dhan Payo:

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo really made us all sit and have a look at all the lehengas. The vibrant coloured lehengas with substantial jewellery and subtle and elegant make up, gave girls new wedding goals.

If you adore the Royal Princess’s look, you can copy the Sonam Kapoor, the newly wed bride’s look from Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. This would add more to the glam Indian wedding!

10. Mandira from My Name Is Khan:

SRK and Kajol recreated magic with this one. Kajol looked undoubtedly beautiful in her wedding saree. She as a bride made us gawked at the beautiful trousseau. We all wish to look like her.

Draped in a simple red saree with golden border and detailed work all over it, Kajol looked like a modern bride who loves to keep her look minimal yet traditional. For this, she even had minimal make up and jewellery to mark the look.

11. Pia from 3 Idiots:

Kareena never failed to give the dreamiest dresses ever. The bridal avtaar of Pia in the film is stunning. She wore a magnificent orange Anarkali which was pretty hard to pull off.

The whole attire was complemented with a pinkish red dupatta with brownish pink hues all over it to define a new statement look. This look definitely goes best with the ones having a white skin tone and a slim figure. You know what you have to do!

I am personally fond of wedding only because I’ll get to flaunt that special red chooda and simple kaleere.

What’s your bridal fantasy?
