Every year on May 28, the International Day of Action for Women's Health is observed. On this occasion, we will discuss one of the most common issues that women face: irregular periods. What exactly are irregular periods? An irregular period occurs when the length of your menstrual cycle falls outside of your normal range. It is usually caused by an imbalance in oestrogen levels and poor blood flow in the pelvic area. Irregular periods may be accompanied by abnormal uterine bleeding, such as:

  • Heavy bleeding while you are bleeding

  • Menstrual bleeding that is more severe than usual

  • Bleeding after reaching menopause

What factors can contribute to irregular periods?

A variety of factors can influence the menstrual cycle. Aside from stress, medication side effects, thyroid, and age, the most important factor is lifestyle. The food you eat, your level of physical activity, and your sleep cycle all play a role in keeping your menstrual cycle regular.

So, what foods should you be eating for irregular periods?

Excess weight gain can disrupt insulin levels and disrupt hormonal balance. This hormonal imbalance can cause irregular menstruation. Because obesity can lead to such problems, we must choose our foods carefully.

1.Parsley

Parsley contains compounds such as myristicin and apiole that aid in the proper production of oestrogen, which aids in the management of the menstrual cycle.

2. Papaya

Papaya's carotene arotene stimulates and regulates Estrogen levels in the body. It also aids in the relief of menstrual cramps.

3. Ginseng

Ginger contains magnesium and vitamin C, which aid in period regularity.

4.Cinnamon

It warms the body from the inside out and increases blood flow. Adding cinnamon to food is a great way to improve not only the flavour but also the health.

5. Curcuma

The multi-beneficial ingredient has also been found to improve period regularity.

6. Pineapple

This fruit is said to boost red and white blood cell counts. It also aids in the regulation of blood flow and the shedding of the uterine lining during menstruation.

7. Caraway seeds

Carom seeds have antispasmodic properties that help relieve menstrual irregularities. Furthermore, they work well in stimulating the uterus.

8. Iron and Folic acid

Consuming foods high in iron and folic acid has been shown to reduce bloating during periods. It is also used to treat a disrupted menstrual cycle.

9.Aloe vera gel

It is the best at managing our hormones and thus regulating our periods.

10. Avoid using

We are all aware that we should limit our consumption of packaged, canned, and ready-to-eat foods. Avoid refined flours, sugars, and carbonated beverages. These foods cause hormonal imbalance, which leads to such health problems.

Finally, all of these foods can be incorporated into your diet to aid in the management of the condition. The main goal is to improve one's overall lifestyle. If you know what's causing your irregular periods, try to fix it by consulting a qualified nutritionist and incorporating these foods into your diet. If you notice any signs of hormonal imbalance, such as irregular periods, unusual bleeding patterns, or missed cycles, this is your cue to change your lifestyle. It is critical to combine strength training with a healthy diet.
