Since our wedding, Josh and I have needed to devote much focus to securing our time together. Both of us have extremely unpredictable jobs (shift workers are yelling at me!), and we often want to spend more time together.

Day of Valentine's Day, we are not going to do the usual flowers, chocolates, and jewellery routine to enjoy the romantic getaway at the resort in Colorado. It's going to be romantic!

There's no better way to show affection for someone else than to offer them your full attention.

A box of chocolates will never match. Therefore, with no further delay, here are 30 unique ways to spend time with your significant other on Valentine's Day!

25 Creative Ideas to Spend the Best Time with Your Love One

1. Take a rest and relax.

Find a hotel or make reservations at a good restaurant, and enjoy your time now. Do not over-plan, as this is your chance to have fun!

2. Recreate the first time you met.

Josh and I's first date included pizza, cheesy parkour in the mall, and a walk with the umbrella. It was pretty classic. How was the date you had with your partner? Are you able to duplicate it?

3. Attend an event.

Find your city's schedule and find an event in your area that is intriguing. It doesn't matter if you're familiar with the group! You might stumble across something amazing (or some funny thing).

4. Take an evening class.

I'm a huge fan of taking a class together with a partner. Josh and I truly bonded through a class of swing dancing we went to together! What else can you do? Attend a cooking class, learn how to make chocolates, and even try your pottery skills.

5. Visit a hole-in-the-wall area of town.

The city of every city holds its hidden treasures. Are you sure that they are there?

6. Try to beat the other player in unison.

Today, Josh and I spent the whole evening racing one another with Mario Kart, and it was amazing. The most memorable part of the evening was the race, where we chose the most sloppy Kart for each other and then raced using mirrors. The trash discussion was memorable.

7. Plan a possible vacation.

Perhaps you can't find enough time to take an extended weekend this year. That's okay! Get together and plan your next trip instead. It's always enjoyable to look into the possibilities and develop plans.

8. Have a YouTube party.

I enjoy a few things more than laughing my head off at kid-friendly vines and cat failures. Relax on the sofa and enjoy the evening laughing until your abs hurt.

9. Enjoy the afternoon cuddling in the local bookshop.

Is it raining outside? Get a cup of coffee and curl up on the sofa with a good book with your partner.

10. Build an outdoor fort with a tent within the family room.

Nothing is better than sharing the best childhood moments with your closest friend. Plus points if you can sleep in it as well!

  1. Take an extra blanket and watch the stars.

The night sky is enchanting. If you happen to be in a region of the world that's yet warm during February, then this concept is doubly appropriate to you.

12. Go to dinner and have a drink for your companion.

There are two ways to do it: First, try your best to select your partner's preferred dinner. Second, choose an entree out of their comfort zone, and observe what happens!

13. Learn the new ability.

Are there things you've always wanted to try but you're just looking for an extra helping hand? Here's your opportunity to go on an evening with archery at the range!

14. Catch any random movie at the local dollar theatre.

In the fall of this year, Josh and I attended "Gods of Egypt" at the local dollar theatre simply because. Terrible movie; great memories!

15. Play with us in our backyard.

There's no reason not to! If you've got the equipment (but you don't have enough time to go out in the woods), put it in your backyard and cook S'mores using the microwave.

16. Wear your best outfit and go to bed at midnight through the parks.

It's one of our favourite ways to bond after a long day of working on different schedules. A fresh breeze, a move and great conversations make for a wonderful date evening.

17. Go dancing.

It doesn't matter if you know what you're doing or not! Get your most effective dancing moves, and find out how to get your partner laughing.

18. Create personalised Scavenger Hunts for one another.

It requires a lot of imagination. It's worth it! Bonus points if connecting each clue to a part of what you share is possible.

19. Get tickets for a local comedy show.

Open mic, improv, you name it! Comedy is always a blast, no matter how bad or good. This week, we'll go to a nearby town's open mic for comedy. We'll keep our fingers crossed!

20. Visit the Zoo and rename the animals.

"Bumble ouchies," "Flamboyant chickens," and "Sucky arm underwater alien heads." Are you able to guess which animals they are?

21. Head to the airport to catch the cheapest flight from anywhere.

Do you want to visit Wichita? At the airport, ask the agent to help you find the most affordable flight leaving the earliest. Then hop onto the plane and take a weekend trip to Wichita!

23. Go to the mountains and take a trip for an excursion.

It's a great method to reconnect to nature and one another! Take your hiking shoes off and take a few photos when you have reached the top. First-time hiker? Here are some suggestions to aid you in finding the perfect trail in your region!

24. Play pub trivia.

Trivia nights at local pubs or bars can be an absolute treat! Sometimes, it's fun to be involved in a bit of competition.

25. Get driving.

I love opening windows and listening to great music while driving during sunset or sunrise.
