A Parking Garage Being Built in My Town.

So apparently, a new parking garage is opening in my town and it has also been brought to my attention that it will be downtown which is okay, but not okay. I mean, it kind of sucks that it'll be downtown but I can also see the logic in placing it there.

Personally, I think where I live, there should be a parking garage there too. I mean, there is one but it belongs to university next door. The parking situation has put a lot of people in my community at risk of getting towed.

Of course, this speaks of the dilemma where people who live uptown like me, would have to park downtown then walk toward the parking garage to get at their car.

Not surprisingly, the city has found ways of making parking more complicated than it is because everyone and their momma want to park in the same spots and can't.

Naturally, this has led to people throwing fits, speaking profanely and even working toward staking out certain parking spots so they can get a spot near their building and won't have to walk as far.

What really kind of sucks about this is that the parking garage is needed more uptown than down, it's not even like downtown would be worst off than uptown.

My thing is, if you're going to build a parking garage in a town, do it for both up and downtown. That way, people will finally have a place to park. I mean, it causes all kinds of problems when people expect a parking spot after coming home from their 8-12 hour shift at work.

I mean, I can't even count on one hand how many times I had to play stakeout just so I can get a spot near my building.

This parking garage situation can go both ways, but I feel like the city is concentrating on downtown because that where the most people congregate but there's just as many uptown than down but I digress.

I hope they make it the effort to put a parking garage in the uptown area, I used to park at a parking garage when I was working a job way back when, it was kind of nice.

In a small way, I feel sorry for the people in this town who have to journey downtown for work. I mean, it's like you'll have a place to park but won't when you come home and if you somehow do, you'll be lucky you don't get towed.

Personally, this whole parking situation has gotten out of hand rather quickly. I just hope they do better about it and really strive to make parking garages for both up and downtown.
